
The module comprises four parts, each one contributing to an understanding of the aspects of the construction sector that are impacted by ethical standards, the legislative environment within which codes of conduct and ethics are practised, and characteristics of ethical behaviour which should be aspired to. The breakdown of the module is as follows:
Part 1 – Describe professional ethics and principles.
Part 2 – Identify the importance of taking professional responsibility for own actions.
Part 3 – Recognise professional codes of conduct related to Built Environment practices.
Part 4 – Explain the application of ethical standards in Built Environment professional practice

Part 1 – Identification of project objectives and constraints.
Part 2 – Provision of strategic planning advice.
Part 3 – Economic and financial analysis.
Part 4 – Provision of input into the development of the project brief.

The focal point of this module is built upon the attainment of recognising client objectives and needs. The course develops this in assisting involved parties to mutually determine advantages, disadvantages and general characteristics of project procurement systems; making recommendations regarding buildability relative to cost impact; selecting appropriate contract documentation and arrangements to be implemented; and selection of a method of price determination and associated method of measurement to be implemented.

Part 1: Consideration of requirements and preparation of price determination enquiry documentation.
Part 2: Initiation of built environment project award processes
Part 3: Consideration of all aspects relating to the selection of bidders projects
Part4: Considerations regarding the negotiation of of bids / tenders on projects

In this module users are guided in understanding and applying the measurement principles embodied within the AAQS Standard Method of Measuring Building Work for Africa. Typical sections covered include:
