The module comprises four main parts, each one contributing to an understanding of the nature of professional practice management procedures in a quantity surveying enterprise. The breakdown of this module is as follows:
Part 1 – Understand the content and objectives of professional legislation for the built environment.
Part 2 – Understand the principles of practice structuring.
Part 3 – Prepare contractual and fee reimbursement schedules for professional services.
Part 4 – Applying principles of a competitive business strategy.

The Study Guide describes QS Practice procedures and processes that are adopted in South Africa. These include Construction Sector structures, legislation, codes of practice and organisational policies, including professional fee structures.
You are required to conduct a detailed investigation of the corresponding arrangement in any 1 other AAQS Member Country. Your submission should include the provision of all formal documentation used in the chosen country which may be compared to those used in South Africa, In each instance, you are required to provide detailed commentary on the local practices and comparing them to the SA models. Wherever possible, explanations should be supplemented with comprehensive examples (e.g. fee calculations)
You may collaborate with no more than 1 other colleague on this assignment, in which case full disclosure of group members is required. Both group members will receive the same grade so beware of who you team up with!
This assignment contributes 50% towards the total module mark
