The primary purpose of providing this material (South Africa based) is to provide a platform for the Module Assignment development

    • This forum is provided for the use of Users to facilitate communication amongst them. The intention is not to provide a 'chat' function but to encourage Users to discuss issues related to the course that are of mutual interest - for example the sharing of information / views etc on an assignment.

    • In the main section of this module, you have been provided with access to a detailed Study Guide. This document has been compiled for primary application in South Africa, describing procedures adopted in that country. These are largely determined by the historical development of policies and material by sectors of the Built Environment professionals and utilized generally, both within the Private and Public sectors of the Building Sector (not Engineering sector).

You are required to review the Study Guide in its entirety, and to provide a detailed, comprehensive comparison of the equivalent activities as adopted within the country where you undertake your professional services. This report must identify standard documents used in your country which enable the services described in the Study Guide to be applied locally. Where local systems are distinctly different from those described in the Study Guide, you should provide detailed commentary on how the local systems work, in sufficient detail for a quantity surveyor wishing to undertake work in your country for the first time, to be adequately informed.

You may collaborate with no more than 1 other colleague on this assignment, in which case full disclosure of group members is required. Both group members will receive the same grade so beware of who you team up with!
