  • The module comprises four main parts, each one contributing to an understanding of what is required to implement project service quality assurance procedures for Built Environment projects. The breakdown of this module is as follows:

     Part 1 – Establishing roles and responsibilities, organisational structures and communication channels.

    Part 2 – Evaluation of the quality of project documentation.

    Part 3 – Development of project information management systems.

    Part 4 – Preparation of project close out systems.

    • Users intending to undertake the examination for this module are advised that this forms the primary material which is to be covered in depth and examined

    • The examination for this module assumes that the user has read all these articles which supplement the Study Guide

    • This forum is provided for the use of Users to facilitate communication amongst them. The intention is not to provide a 'chat' function but to encourage Users to discuss issues related to the course that are of mutual interest - for example the sharing of information / views etc on an assignment. 

    • This is the first of a 3-part set of assignments for this module which build upon each other consecutively. The detailed requirements for Parts 2 and 3 will only be displayed after submission of the preceding section. 

      You are required to begin the assignment by opening the file attached to this section, which lists a series of 22 characteristics which can be applied in determining the quality of service provided by a cost consultancy / professional quantity surveying practice.   

      You should evaluate the importance of each of the listed items from the perspective of a client, and must rate the importance of the characteristic on a grading of 1 - 10 (1= not at all  important / 10 = exceptionally important / vital for the service firm to reflect this in providing the expected level of professional service). In support of your grading, you are to provide a short reason to support your expressed viewpoint.

      The total mark for all 3 parts of the assignment will contribute 60% towards the overall module grading.

    • Taking into account your Part 1 submission of this assignment, you are now required to identify a professional cost consultancy firm / QS Practice. that you either work for at present or in the past, or have a fairly intimate knowledge of through a business association. 

      You should grade the performance of this firm against each one of the 22 service characteristics listed on the assignment questionnaire. This grading should be on a scale of 1 - 10 (1 = the list item does not accurately reflect firm performance / 10 = the item accurately reflects firm performance). 

      In completing this exercise, you should provide a brief critical appraisal of the service firm's performance / grading in explaining the grading response provided by you for each of the 22 items.

    • Considering the first 2 parts of this assignment and your reflections contained therein, you should provide a report to the head of the Service Consultancy, summarizing the most important ways in which you believe their service should / can be improved, taking into account all practical considerations that are pertinent. 

    • This quiz is based on material made available to learners - particularly the Study Guide. Learners are required to attempt all questions. The total number of marks that may be attained is 10 marks.

    • This exam contributes 30% towards the final mark for this module

      This question paper consists of 2 questions. You are required to answer BOTH  of the questions provided. 

      Clearly mark the question number as indicated on the question sheet for each answer provided.
