I recently undertook to establish preferences of users with regard to the above. Practical constraints mean that 'set' days and times for these need to be set at the start of each module. It will not be possible to satisfy all users so the administrator's decision will largely be guided by the majority vote in this survey.
Please submit your selection by Friday, 1st April. Access the question by clicking on the title above.
Some candidates have experienced technical difficulties in accessing this survey which was displayed in the Professional Ethics Module page. If you completed that version of the survey, kindly do not submit a further copy here.

You have been approached by an American company to provide strategic advice / guidance to enable them to build a substantial office development in your country. They are keen to use a standardized layout that has been built in South Africa as their local design, some drawings for which have been provided to you herewith. You are to provide them with an extensive fully detailed report covering the strategic planning considerations of the proposed project in as much detail as possible - this will be submitted to their International Board in New York for consideration, prior to a commitment being made. Your report should cover all aspects of the early stage planning process as listed in the Module Outline in appropriate detail. You are required to approach this as a 'real life' scenario - repetition of theoretical concepts are inadequate - you should identify all aspects (e.g. Economic and financial environment to be considered; Regulatory requirements; likely physical / site considerations; design team selection; time, price and specification / quality issues to be taken into account, and any other pertinent matters required for the development of the project brief in overview).
You may collaborate with no more than 2 other colleagues on this assignment, in which case full disclosure of group members is required. All group members will receive the same grade so beware of who you team up with!

This section provides a number of short video interviews with senior figures in the Quantity Surveying fraternity based in African countries other than South Africa. The intention is to provide expert, personal observations on quantity surveying practices and procedures which supplement the material supplied in the Module Study Guide which describes the situation as experienced in South Africa.
